First Fridays at Over The Moon– The Start of Something Big

In September 2024, First Fridays was launched in Asbury Park, bringing a nationwide arts tradition to the city. From 5 to 8 PM, the event buzzed with energy, featuring live music, makers, and hands-on creative activities.

With performances from Meraki and S0ulfood, the night was filled with incredible music, setting the tone for what First Fridays could become. Alongside interactive experiences like bracelet making and chalk drawing, the event brought the community together through art, music, and collaboration.

The downstairs setup placed me right in the heart of the action, though the sound levels made deeper interactions a challenge—a lesson that would help shape future events. Coming off the motivation from Flower City Comic Con, I started thinking about ways to improve my setup. This event marked the first step toward refining how Mushroom World Comics engages with audiences. It wasn’t just about showing up—it was about learning, adapting, and building something bigger.

Future First Fridays will bring more art, more music, and more opportunities to grow. This was just the beginning!
