I only heard about the Super Jersey Comic Expo a week before, but once I realized how close it was, I knew I had to go. Walking through the doors, I immediately knew I had made the right call.
The convention floor was packed with passionate attendees, diverse booths, and creators bringing their worlds to life. My eyes were locked onto Artist Alley and the original storytellers, and this event delivered—it was filled with indie creators showcasing unique stories that push boundaries and spark inspiration.
One of the best surprises was running into Phil, an old coworker from my Record Store days before college graduation. It had been years since we last crossed paths, and seeing how his art had evolved was an unexpected and exciting moment of reconnection. Another highlight was meeting Heather Antos, an editor at IDW Publishing and someone I had always hoped to meet. Her work has shaped some of the industry's biggest titles, and getting the chance to talk in person made the convention experience even more memorable.
Experiencing Super Jersey Comic Expo firsthand confirmed that this is an event worth returning to—not just as an attendee, but as a creator. Seeing the energy around independent storytelling solidified my decision: next year, I plan to table at the convention, bringing my own work into the mix and connecting with an audience that truly appreciates original comics.
