Chapter 10 – The Fire Beneath Me Takes the Stage

Updated: Jun 14

The longest chapter of A Night To Remember is here, and it’s all about energy, performance, and the momentum leading into the climax.

This chapter features three live songs performed by the main act, The Fire Beneath Me. Their frontman, Mathew Crawford, draws heavy inspiration from Matt Tuck of Bullet For My Valentine, bringing raw intensity to the stage. Alongside him are Eddie Skaff, Andrew Griffin, and Emily Ledger, joined by guest performer Becca Lee, inspired by Hayley Williams.

The songs performed in the storyboards, which won’t appear in the final version, are:

Hearts Burst Into Fire – Bullet For My Valentine (my personal favorite song)

Now – Paramore

Blood Red Summer – Coheed and Cambria

From explosive energy to foreboding tension, this chapter builds up to something big. It closes on an ominous note, echoing the lyrics “What did I do to deserve…” as Cass reflects: Nothing could have prepared her for what was coming next.

Getting back into drawing the characters, instruments, and full band performances was an absolute thrill—now it’s full steam ahead toward the climax of the book in the next chapter: The End...?
